G. Alan Hartley is a 1977 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama. He began his career with the Birmingham Office of Deloitte and Touche and joined Morrison & Smith, LLP in 1979. With 27 years in the profession, Alan brings a wealth of experience to the accounting, auditing and tax needs of the firm's diverse clients. From the needs of small business to reporting requirements of SEC clients, the breath of Alan's experience is a valuable asset of our firm that provides significant value to the services our firm provides. He is a member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Alan is also active in the local community through his church and other civic organizations.


Barrett A. Burns began his career in 1985 with the Birmingham Office of Ernst & Young where he practiced for seven years both in the audit and tax departments. He has over 19 years experience in all facets of accounting and auditing. Barry is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama and manages numerous large audits for Morrison & Smith. He is a member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was awarded a Certificate of Educational Achievement by the AICPA in the area of Tax Planning and Advising for Closely-Held Businesses. He is active in other professional and civic organizations.


R. Daniel Sutter began his career in 1991 with Morrison & Smith, LLP. Dan is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the University of Alabama, and has served a variety of clients during his career. Dan has taken a particular interest in the design, implementation, review and testing of internal controls, small business engagements, and estate planning. Dan services a wide range of clients for our firm and his experience is a valuable asset to our firm. He is a past President of the Tuscaloosa Chapter of the Alabama Society of CPA's and has previously served on the Governmental Accounting and Auditing Forum Committee sponsored by the ASCPA. He is currently the Tuscaloosa Chapter Council Representative to the ASCPA.
