Morrison & Smith, LLP has a long and outstanding reputation in the accounting profession. Below is some information about our late founders Claud A. Morrison and William D. Smith.

Mr. Claud A. Morrison established this CPA practice in 1951. He then moved to Tuscaloosa, AL and had to take the CPA exam again, Certificate No. 223, and began his practice in what is now Morrison and Smith. He served many civic and professional organizations. He served on the first professional development committee with the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants resulting in mandatory professional education requirements for CPAs in the State of Alabama. He was appointed by the Tuscaloosa City Council to the then City Park & Recreation Board. He promoted legislation to convert the CityPark and Recreation Board to TuscaloosaCountyPark and Recreation Authority making the City operations a County-wide operation. He was also appointed and served on the City Board of Education for many years. He was presented with the Alabama Society of CPAs 1992 Public Service Award recognizing his professional and personal time given to improving quality of life in a profession and the community.
